Introduction | Chapman University School of Pharmacy

Established in 1861, Chapman University is a private, coeducational university located in Orange, California and Irvine, California, in the western region of the United States. 

The Chapman University School of Pharmacy offers a Doctor of Pharmacy, a Master of Science, a Doctor of Philosophy in Pharmaceutical Sciences and a Freshman Early Assurance Program pathway to the Doctor of Pharmacy for gifted high school graduates. The School of Pharmacy is located on the Rinker Health Sciences campus in Irvine, CA, approximately 15 miles from the Chapman Orange campus. 

The 2020 U.S. News & World Report ranks Chapman University as one of the best colleges in America and in 2019, Chapman University was ranked 5th among master’s-level universities in the Western U.S. In 2020, The School of Pharmacy ranked top 100 in the first year it was ranked by this report. The School also ranks in the top third of all schools of pharmacy for its research performance and funding.

The School of Pharmacy offers students an unparalleled experience in the basic pharmaceutical sciences of pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, biology and medicinal chemistry. It also offers extensive pharmacy practice opportunities and experiential education beginning immediately in the first year at the pharmacy school. Students use unrivaled, sophisticated research technology in new laboratories and work alongside leading researchers in their field of study. Chapman University School of Pharmacy is proud to offer the following graduate and professional degrees: 

M.S. Pharmaceutical Sciences 

Offered as a two-year program, perfect for students interested in a broad range of scientific disciplines critical to the discovery and development of new drugs and therapies.

M.S. Patient Safety

Offered as a two year blended online and on-campus immersion for those interested in positions as chief safety officers within a wide variety of health care delivery settings.

M.S. Regulatory Affairs

Offered as a two year blended online and on-campus immersion for those interested in positions within the pharmaceutical research and development industry or within government agencies around the globe which oversee the development of ethical and over the counter pharmaceutical, biological, and medical device products.

Ph.D. Pharmaceutical Sciences 

Year-round program for students interested in the diverse research areas of drug design and discovery, pharmaceuticals, drug delivery, pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, structural biology or social and administrative sciences.

Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.)

The Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) is a three-year, accelerated, year round trimester based professional degree program which requires at least two years of prerequisite undergraduate study. This program is also unique in its delivery of innovative and student-centered flipped classroom methods of instruction and its leadership in patient safety education. In lieu of constant traditional lecture format classes, faculty curate online homework, reading, practice exercises and internet research before class so that many class sessions will be devoted to application of knowledge, team based problem solving, case discussion and active learning exercises. The goal of the program is to develop knowledgeable, high performing team players.

Admissions | Chapman University School of Pharmacy

Prospective students are encouraged to review the graduate application deadlines based on their particular graduate program. Programs that accept applications after the deadline on a space-available basis will be noted. Please visit the Application page to view a particular program application and requirements. 

A non-refundable application fee is $60 through the online application system for certain programs. Students are required to submit all official transcripts; applications will not be considered complete until all materials are received. Most programs require a minimum of two letters of recommendation. Some programs require a statement of intent with specific information included in your statement.

The Chapman University Harriet S. Salmon Interest Free Loan is an interest free loan awarded through the Office of Financial Aid. For information on eligibility for this type of loan, please contact the Office of Financial Aid at 714-997-6741. 

Students interested in need-based financial aid should submit the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) or the California Dream Act Application if they are not eligible for federal financial aid.
